Social Media Can Be Our Friend: A Workshop for Scientists and Health Care Professionals

Many of us have heard that being active on social media — Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram — is important to our career and business. But, what if it’s not really your “thing?” What if you have no idea where to start, don’t believe you have time, or have tried but feel hopeless at getting a good response? Powerful platforms like Twitter can feel like another world with great exposure but also great risk while learning the ropes.

This 90-minute workshop is conducted by Diane Grimard Wilson, author of the award-winning Brain Dance. Prior to her book’s release, experts stressed how important social media would be for a successful launch. So, she attended a conference at the Harvard Medical School for Publishing and Social Media for Health Care Leaders. There she met her guru Rusty Shelton and became passionate about sharing her own field of applied neuroscience as well as her new book. Since then, Brain Dance has won12 awards including prestigious and international competitions. Diane’s own social media following is helpful, large, always growing, inclusive and a great resource for all in it. She describes it as belonging to strong, safe, and powerful communities she enjoys immensely.

Her interactive workshop will save time and build your confidence. It will help bring your authentic and best self to these platforms of communication. It will address key issues including:

  • Why? Key are the benefits for scientists and health professionals being active on social media, particularly Twitter, during this health care crisis. For example: Is it true this is a powerful way to share research?
  • What? Essential elements for setting up an impactful social media presence.
  • How? Learn the do’s and don’t’s for effective communications with clients, the general public, and colleagues.

Bonus: All participants will be eligible for a free 30-minute 1-2-1 Social Media Brand Analysis with Diane’s feedback on how to help build your authentic, effective and comfortable social presence.
